Photographing Tina & Jared’s wedding at The Oaks at Oak Plantation was a true honor.  Family is very important to these two and they spent a lot of time thinking out the logistics of the day.  Their attendants were specifically picked by Tina – her nieces, and escorted by their fathers.  Tina wanted for her young nieces to have moments with each of their fathers so that they could get a personal idea of what it would be like to walk down the isle on their own wedding day.  She loves her family so much, and as the youngest and only girl of many brothers, you could tell that they wanted this to be a super special day for their baby sister.

I experienced firsthand an incredibly gentle and patient person in Jared.  He loves Tina so very much and you can visibly see this.  His communication with her, the way he places his hand on her arm, his ability to be calm when their adorable fur children are going haywire, how he’s always watching out for her and even when she signs them up for pictures every few months! 😉

Tina & Jared decided they wanted to take their engagement pictures in Aspen last November.  You may or may not know that flying in and out of Aspen is sketchy due to weather, so it’s best to fly in nearby-or Denver-which is what we did.  It’s a 4 hour drive.  A bit long but gorgeous, and it also gave us so much time to tell more about ourselves.  We laughed, we cried and the walls came down.  It was so good to bond with these two.

Love isn’t always easy.  It is a choice that you make every single day.  I pray that God holds these two close to Him and to each other.

When it comes to sunsets, in my opinion California takes the cake.  There isn’t anywhere else that you get that creamy, buttery beautiful sun besides SoCal.  That, along with the elegant stylings of Charla & Krystle made this set up perfect.

We started up at a house in the hills of Santa Barbara, collecting details and getting tips on how to best set and photograph a tablescape.  Our couple got dressed and did their first look in the garden, and then we drove down a bit to get some pictures in this gorgeous original green vintage mustang.

From there, we set off to Los Olivos and the Santa Ynez mountains for a quiet and intimate elopement with just a handful of guests.  As always, the weather was gorgeous, and our couple did a great job.  Of course in every day life you don’t have a full hour of time for pictures but as you can see below, we got a lot of sun, some just as the sun set and even a few at dusk.

This styled elopement was fast paced but nothing near what it is on the real day.  I enjoyed shooting at this workshop because it gave me the freedom to create new content, get out of my comfort zone and gaining more experience on different ways of shooting while not practicing on clients. 🙂

If you know me, chances are you’ve seen me around various places with this fierce chic.  She helps me with the bridal show, she assists me at most of my weddings and she keeps me updated on all the new lingo that I’ve grown clueless with, LOL!

A few things about Caitlyn –  She’s a communications major.  She’s a hard worker.  She’s on point with helping me at weddings.  She’s a feminist.  Most importantly thought, she gives me so much joy when she gives me one of her “Yas, Queen!” speeches.  To say that this young woman who is about 10 years younger than me makes me feel better about myself as a person is an understatement.  She’s always encouraging, accountable and she has a few older brothers who keep her educated on things like being a Dallas Cowboys fan, having a turntable and knowing good music.

I’m rambling but I just have to say that I’m so glad that she’s in this world.  It’s a better place with her in it.  While we were in California together for a workshop, we planned to take pictures on the Channel Islands just off the coast but the winds were rough that day.  Honestly, I think it turned out perfectly.  We went out to Lizards Mouth Rock area and honestly had a great time.  It was pretty cool and the wind was up, but that only made for better pictures.

Beforehand, we stumbled across the Santa Barbara Farmers Market to admire all the fresh produce, fresh honey and wildflowers.  We picked up a little bouquet of fresh flowers to take along with us.  After we worked hard climbing rocks (her in her dress and her pink Outdoor Voices tennis shoes) we headed back down the mountain to another amazing dinner that we took advantage of while in town.

So glad you came with me on this trip, CaitCait!  Such a memorable and fun time!

Sometimes, the odds are completely in your favor when meeting couples and their families.  This is the case with a certain beautiful family right here in Houston.  I met sisters Kat & Emmalee at the Bridal Extravaganza a while back.  Since then, I have taken engagement pictures for Kat who was engaged at the time.  We’ve all gotten together for brunch and it’s just so easy to like these ladies and their AMAZING Mom, Lisa!

So naturally, I call them occasionally just to say hello.  This is when in late November I was clued in that Emmalee’s boyfriend would be proposing to her.  I was so excited!  Once the plan was in place, I disguised myself as a random park bench-goer complete with sunglasses and a scarf.  I didn’t want Emmalee to recognize me and there was NO hiding in this park if I wanted to get a good shot!

It all went pretty perfectly.  They headed to the park near their home along with Harvey, their Golden-doodle.  He proposed, and she said yes.  She may also have jumped up and down and there may or may not be pictures below.  We took more pictures of all of them together and then walked back to the house where both families had gathered with champagne waiting to surprise and celebrate the occasion.

And just like that, it’s 2020 y’all!  First blog post of the year and it’s for Grace & Ben.  These two Baylor Bears are not sure where life will take them after they finish college, but one thing is for sure, they will be getting married this year!

It may look like a warm perfect day in Houston, but this was a COLD day.  I want to say the high was 52.  I’m not complaining, I love cold weather and they totally owned it!  Grace was so easy to make laugh and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with Ben’s handsome smile.  They both have the most beautiful big brown eyes 🙂

We laughed and joked about a few obstacles we encountered on our engagement session journey that included a Christmas grinch and after we finished with their dressy outfits, we headed over to Black Hole Coffee to warm up a bit.  I’m a huge fan of the cajeta!

I learned that Ben is a big Star Wars fan and that Grace loves Disney.  It sounds like a perfect match to me!  We will all meet again and counter the cold weather with a warm August wedding later this year.  Until then, enjoy the fun moments below!
