Houston Wedding Photographer – Private Residence Weddings | Heather + Colin

Meeting Heather & Colin just by luck, we got together on a Saturday afternoon during a crazy rainstorm.  I avoid saying torrential downpour because we just experienced one of the worst storms in history, here in Houston with Hurricane Harvey.

Right off the bat, the newly engaged couple was friendly, funny and opened themselves up to tell their story to me.  Colin let me know that ‘he doesn’t take good pictures’.  I said, “You are handsome and you will do great!”  He says…”Oh, I know I’m a great looking guy–I just have that whole Chandler thing going when the camera is on me”.  I about died laughing.  Grinning ear to ear now, just writing about it.  But wait…THERE’S MORE!  He also fences!  You know…the sport with the mesh masks and skinny sword thingys?  Interesting, right??    Heather is not your average woman.  She won me over immediately with that red hair, but I soon came to know that she sings in a rock band and enjoys welding and working with wood.  She even made the wooden piece for the ceremony.  And to top it all off, she is a first generation Scot.  She grew up spending her summers roaming the Scottish Highlands and swimming in Loch Ness (or you get the idea)  She’s got that whole ‘Brave’ thing going on 😉   #coolchic

Photographing their wedding was very special to me.  They had planned to get married next year sometime, but life is what happens when you’re busy making plans.  They decided on a much more intimate setting and married in front of 15 of their family members right in their own living room.  They chose to have a small and sentimental ceremony but there was BIG love in that room.  The story of who they are as individuals, how they met, their love story and how he proposed in the old stomping grounds of where Heather used to play as a girl in Scotland were all told.  It was an honor to be a part of their story.

Afterward, they all toasted with champagne and once we took their wedding portraits, they headed to Benjy’s for dinner and drinks.  I’m so grateful to have met these two super awesome people.  I can’t wait to see what life brings for them.
