Lauren & Sam are married!  Now they can breath for an 1/8th of a second before making a huge move to New York City!!  New marriage, new city, new tiny apartment just off of Park Ave.

 WHEW!

Both of these newlyweds are in law, and from what they’ve told me, it’s not all Reese Witherspoon and subject matter jurisdiction 😉  They both work hard, and they work long hours.  They are smart and very good at what they do.  Silver lining?  Those who work hard, play hard.

They had a beautiful wedding at the Czech Museum of Houston and then afterward, they took time to visit with each table of guests, hug old friends and visit with family they rarely get to see.  After cutting the cake with a great grandfathers sabre, they threw the shoes off and danced together with those who were ready for the play hard part!

I have to admit that as chaotic as moving is, especially to another state, I am super envious of the fact that they will be there just in time for the fall foliage, chilly weather and beautiful window displays.

Good luck in the concrete jungle you guys – I have no doubt you’ll be amazing!

Kim & Joe got married in an intimate ceremony over the summer in Austin.

They returned to Houston for their wedding reception so that they could celebrate with all of their friends and family.  One of their favorite spots for lunch is Harold’s in the Heights, specifically for their chicken salad sandwiches.

They were no frills, no stress, no drama.  Happy couples, good friends, fun family and a bride & groom who enjoy good company.

Everyone came to celebrate the couple, eating good food and drinking tasty drinks.  We went out for a few casual pictures before they got serious on the dance floor.  Below is a small account of all the shenanigans – enjoy!

Every couple has their own vision when it comes to how they want the wedding day to go.  For Kathryn & Eric, they *LOVE* going to concerts together.  When you see pictures of them together, the majority are at concerts or music festivals.  Over 60+ concerts including Bonnaroo & ACL.  They wanted their wedding day to represent their own private concert – what a cool idea!!  For this, they found the perfect wedding venue – White Oak Music Hall.

A few months after they booked their venue, they got a call that there would be an actual concert at the venue out on the lawn.  EEEEEKKK!  How exciting!  This wouldn’t affect their wedding, if anything it would make it more memorable.  So while the different bands were rehearsing, we got to hear (and see) some of them just casually going through the songs just before the ceremony.

Both Eric & Kat were super chill.  No big to-do’s, no specific pictures, just capture it as the day unfolds.  There was a timeline but it didn’t dictate any stress over them.  If they were a little behind, no worries.  The crowd can’t watch a wedding without them! 😉

After the ceremony, we took a few pictures on the rooftop and then went down to dance and party with The Doppelganger Band.  As the night went on, they truly enjoyed themselves with their friends and family.  They got to hug the people and get pictures with each table, which was decorated with their favorite vinyl albums as centerpieces, and everyone had their own customized ‘Seastrand Altarnative’ concert wrist bands.  It was seriously so cool.

We got a few night shots at the end and you can see the fun of goofing off in the last shot.  After the wedding, the couple was able to go up to the roof to enjoy the last of the concert where Sublime with Rome was playing down below.

It was a perfect August night.

Stephanie & Matt were married at the beginning of the year.  They chose to take minimal pictures on the wedding day so that they could enjoy some of cocktail hour and join their guests.  They also wanted to have portraits in the daylight and the wedding was in the winter months.  With a 7pm wedding, that wasn’t happening!  We planned an ‘After session’, a session specifically for wedding portraits post wedding.  This way they are able to still have the portraits that they want and if their wedding day happened to be rained out, the reschedule works perfectly!

I’ve had at least a handful of couples who have chosen to do this and it’s a brilliant solution for couples who want to be part of all the festivities on the wedding day, and cocktail hour is one of the best festivities!

Looking at these two gorgeous babes, you wouldn’t even guess that we were shooting in a crazy heat wave.  The heat index that day was 108º.  These guys rocked it to say the least.  Afterward we cooled off on a rooftop bar with drinks and good conversation about family and friends.

Thanks again Stephanie & Matt, for choosing me to photograph your important moments!!

I was going through my bridal portraits the other day on the blog, looking for Amy’s session at The Crystal Ballroom.  Finally I realized they had never been posted, agh!  So, here they are!  I always have to hold on posting the bridal portraits until after the wedding but these just slipped past me 😉

Hope you all enjoy!
