These two former athletes had a hell of a wedding this past June.  Partly because they treated their guests with the SUPER fun band, The Spazmatics – but mostly because they are two chill, no frill people.  Shane is a car guy.  He enjoys his car club and Xbox (see groom’s cake below).  That afternoon of the wedding, he was excitedly telling Kristin that a new highly anticipated game had just come out.

Kristin was thrilled.  (Insert total sarcasm here.)

Kristin is a girl after my own heart.  She enjoys afternoon naps and spending time with their reverse brindle boxer, Miley.  We are all actually neighbors and one day I was walking Eva, (my reverse brindle boxer) when Kristin drove by.  She told Shane she swore someone had stolen their baby girl!  So obviously, we have common interests 😉

  After much goofing around and trying not to take themselves too seriously, the happy couple married, ate, toasted and danced. The Spazmatics had them dance-act out their relationship from beginning to wedding day, accompanied by Total Eclipse of the Heart, which had the whole reception roaring and wanting to step in to help complete the story.

This wedding had so many FUN moments, so forgive the overload of craziness below.  You won’t see custom dress hangers or a wedding invitation suite accompanied by soft silk ribbon, but you will see real. genuine. fun. being had by two people on the happiest day of their lives.

It was awesome.  And what tops awesome?

This quiet, pretty blonde with piercing green eyes spoke softly at the Bridal Extravaganza.  With all the bustling around, I leaned in to hear what she had to say.  I remembered her because the venue was built by an active photographer in the industry.  The fact that she reached out to me instead of going with someone for the sake of ease meant so much to me.  Then I found out that she, too was an xray tech – what are the odds!

I finally got a chance to talk more with Jonathan and meet his son, Carter when we all met for drinks at the new Hotel Zaza in Memorial City.  The fact that he cared to share his opinions and what he wanted on the wedding day was very refreshing.  He was engaged in the planning from the beginning and the most important thing to him was to make Lauren happy.

Lauren was sitting with ease and taking the whole day in when I arrived on that very warm June afternoon.  No nerves, just ready to marry her love.  In front of his guys, Jonathan was all laughs, but in one little moment before the ceremony, he was peeking out of the curtain at the guests who were arriving and just had this soft smile that I caught.  They danced the night away, with Carter getting DOWN with his moves near the end and then finally, as the night ended, they flew off in their Audi R8, ready for the honeymoon ahead. <3

I met Loriann and her daughter Sarah about six years ago when I had her sister over to talk about pictures.  I didn’t know it at the time, but I would become very close with these two sisters and their awesome, fun-loving and rowdy Sicilian family.  I didn’t know that the little girl with Loriann that was coloring in green marker on my sofa would grow up right before my eyes.  It’s the joy of what I do that brings so many amazing people into my life.

A few years ago, Loriann met Ramiro.  They went out on a first date to IHOP, as little Sarah recalls, and things took their course.  Ramiro has fit in well with the family.  He’s personable, laid back and a gentleman.  Needless to say, he’s been groomed into a die hard Cowboys fan (if he wasn’t one already) and enjoy’s biking with Loriann in the city.

On their wedding day, Loriann & Ramiro each had their children stand up with them.  Sarah was grinning at Ramiro’s son, Iovanny from across the way as she watched her Mom (and her best friend) say her vows.   After pictures, they danced and visited with their families.  They also surprised guests with a special treat, ice cream from Hey Mikey’s in Galveston.  Can we just talk about how legit their ice cream is??  OMG – so good.

When I think of a bride with a contagious smile and a big laugh, I think of Amy.  Then I think of Chad, the one who’s usually causing her to laugh!

Amy & Chad got married at the gorgeous Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart here in Houston and then threw a soiree at The Crystal Ballroom featuring The Royal Dukes!  All of their bridesmaids and groomsmen were AMAZING!  The girls were all so gorgeous, helpful and made sure Amy had everything she needed.  Chad’s men were nothing short of hilarious, even trying to get us to take shots with them!

Family is super important to these two, so they made sure to take care of everyone and spend time visiting with them.  When they weren’t talking with loved ones, they were on the dance floor.  Now, when it comes to wedding traditions, I don’t typically post many of the usual festivities such as cake cutting or bouquet tosses.  Having said that…I’m certain that Amy based her decision to marry Chad on his abilities to serenade her with dancing that makes her jaw drop!  At least that’s what happened during the garter ceremony 🙂  You can see a few of his moves below in the reception pictures.

I’m confident that these two will make each other laugh for many, many, MANY years to come.

Where do I start with Evangeline & Paul?  In one word?  Perfecto.  They chose the new Hotel Zaza Memorial City location for their wedding and reception.  Evangeline’s Mom did ALL the flowers and pulled the decor vision together.  Her sisters made the cake (what??) and the cupcakes…one of which I had and OMGGGG.  I took an extra home for later and my gorgeous caramel eyed boxer ATE it!!  But I digress…

Evangeline stood out to me at the Bridal Extravaganza where I met her.  She’s such a freakin’ DOLL.  AMIRIGHT??  I later met Paul over drinks and though a bit quiet, I could see in his eyes and mannerisms that he was completely taken by Evangeline.  He’s the type of guy that makes you feel at ease and very welcome.   The wedding was family only and so beautiful.  The reception had so much love poured into the details.  Oh, and those painted favors on mini easels? – they were painted by the bride herself!!

Then to talk about the families…just such AMAZING families.  Paul’s parents were so sweet.  All of his brothers and their wives helped celebrate the night away.  Evangeline’s six brothers and sisters rocked out full sequin dresses with converse and the brothers were dressed to the nines.  The whole family pulled tightly together to make sure that this was a special day – and it was.  That day was heartwarming.

What I get to look forward to now is watching the Cantu’s life unfold.  Oh, and also to go try Tony’s Mexican Restaurant…now that the wedding is over, they can meet me up for margaritas, chips and salsa!  Cheers, you two.  XOXO.
