Below is an account of my shenanigans in Colorado right before the new year. Yes…Garrett planned a surprise proposal in Colorado for his girlfriend, where they were planning a fun little trip to take Whiskey, their dog and play in the snow. But the plot thickens…his girlfriend, Stephanie, we go way back…just about 10 years, to when she was a high school senior.

If you care to see this adorable said senior, check her out here. Gorgeous, right?? Then there was her college graduation shoot, so you get the point…I love her. Anyway, we’ve kept in touch all this time and if you and I met at the bridal show, chances are, you’ve met her too 😉

Garrett was generous enough to include me in his plan to propose to Stephanie, so we went back and forth incognito (under a fake name and all) to plan out the logistics. It was SO fun and absolutely incredible to watch take place…After he proposed, he let her in on the other surprise, a fun shoot for the two of them up north in Estes Park, Colorado.

That shoot will be posted soon, but until then, enjoy this sweet proposal including Whiskey and his cute little paw protectors, because it was TEN degrees. Poor sweet boy was such a joy and I’m so glad that he was included on this special day.  A super special shout out to Steph’s Dad for also helping  all of this come together.  The Colello family has long been part of our lives and I’m so grateful for them all!

Also, mayjah shout to myself for waking up at 2:30 in the morning to catch the (what’s the opposite of red-eye?) 5AM flight to Colorado – great job, me!

Before the wedding, there’s the bridal session…this is Stephanie…she’s SUPER fun, has a loud laugh that I adore and she’s Greek, so naturally, everyone wants to be her 😉 We flaunted about downtown Houston as she made heads turn and made me proud…

November weddings in Houston, Texas…it really doesn’t get any better than that. I love November, always have. The weather is cool and crisp (when it isn’t being funny), the air smells of wood burning, the colors turn and the holidays begin. I now have more reason to love it because of this incredibly lovely couple.

The first thing I noticed about Elizabeth was her smile. She’s got a smile for days. I met both she and her mom and I immediately found myself hoping that I would be the one lucky enough to capture the wedding day. Upon meeting Michael, I realized why Liz had picked him. He’s such a gentleman, and is so sweet with her.

This gorgeous day unfolded with traditions carried and continued for centuries and across seas. Witnessing and capturing this wedding was incredible! It went perfectly, and the only absence felt by everyone was Elizabeth’s Dad. Though nothing can replace the loss of a parent, he was fully present and he had the best seat in the house to see it all.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Strohmann!

This is the story of two people who had the most perfect wedding day. God blessed this man and woman with wonderful friends and family who all came together to celebrate them vowing to one another their undivided love and devotion.

I am THE luckiest girl, because they chose ME out of this saturated market where they had their pick of anyone they wanted. Two major things you should know about Shannon and Chris: 1) Shannon’s smile is one that could warm the coldest day. Her eyes light up and her cheeks flush pink. Her soul is pure and beautiful. 2) Chris is probably the most cheerful, happy and goofy groom I’ve ever photographed. During our engagement session, he greeted me with a huge grin. He was fun and playful and not afraid to be a little silly. After meeting his Mom, I see where he gets that BIG grin. Such a breath of fresh air <3. I loved the energy in the room during their beautiful ceremony.

Their wedding day was seriously perfect. The weather, the sun, the wedding party and families…all amazing!  And the flower girls/ring bearers!  Wait until you see these little girls and boys…so precious!

I would photograph this day again in a heartbeat, but I’m SO glad to finally show you these two who have snuggled right into the core of my heart. Thank you both for giving me so much joy!

This wedding at ZaZa was LIT, y’all!

Steph and Charlie are such an awesome couple. They told me that their friends and family would be closing the night down with partying till the very end, but what these two failed to mention was that pretty much ALL of their friends are performers of some sort!  There were theatre majors, singers, contortionists, dancers, you name it!

So THAT’S why you’ll see a ton of reception shots in this story. There were just too many fun moments!  They were in the air, on the floor and all around. Something Steph failed to mention was that she can SANG!  All of the sudden, she hijacks the mic from the DJ and lays it DOWN.

One of the highlights was watching literally the whole guest list on the floor in full choreography mode acting out to Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show!  It was a top night!!

Of course the night wouldn’t be complete without all of their foster kitties turned family. They have 5 cats and a few more fosters that they made adorable Popsicle photo props with. I really loved how their day was an exact reflection of who they are and what they’re about. No put-ons and ZFG <3

Here in Houston, along the southeast suburbs are two bordering rivalry cities – Deer Park & La Porte.  They’ve been competing for winning titles since the 1940’s.  This Deer Park boy won this La Porte girl’s heart and they are doing a thing called getting married next year.

So let’s talk a little about their engagement session.  It was originally scheduled for October, but due to work scheduling, we needed to make it work earlier.  In August.  In Texas.  …In 102 degree heat.  Can I get a high five for these two that braved those conditions??  Not to mention the 100 steps down and back up – twice – to two different river bottom locations!

Afterward we all went for pizza and sucked down about 3 waters each.  We were all looking forward to vegging out on our beds and resting from the long day.  I had forgotten how DRY it is out there!  To the both of you, thanks so much for trusting me with your pictures, braving the heat and for the laughs we had that we will keep to ourselves 😉

These two former athletes had a hell of a wedding this past June.  Partly because they treated their guests with the SUPER fun band, The Spazmatics – but mostly because they are two chill, no frill people.  Shane is a car guy.  He enjoys his car club and Xbox (see groom’s cake below).  That afternoon of the wedding, he was excitedly telling Kristin that a new highly anticipated game had just come out.

Kristin was thrilled.  (Insert total sarcasm here.)

Kristin is a girl after my own heart.  She enjoys afternoon naps and spending time with their reverse brindle boxer, Miley.  We are all actually neighbors and one day I was walking Eva, (my reverse brindle boxer) when Kristin drove by.  She told Shane she swore someone had stolen their baby girl!  So obviously, we have common interests 😉

After much goofing around and trying not to take themselves too seriously, the happy couple married, ate, toasted and danced. The Spazmatics had them dance-act out their relationship from beginning to wedding day, accompanied by Total Eclipse of the Heart, which had the whole reception roaring and wanting to step in to help complete the story.

This wedding had so many FUN moments, so forgive the overload of craziness below.  You won’t see custom dress hangers or a wedding invitation suite accompanied by soft silk ribbon, but you will see real. genuine. fun. being had by two people on the happiest day of their lives.

It was awesome.  And what tops awesome?

Midnight snacks from Whataburger – that’s what.

This quiet, pretty blonde with piercing green eyes spoke softly at the Bridal Extravaganza.  With all the bustling around, I leaned in to hear what she had to say.  I remembered her because the venue was built by an active photographer in the industry.  The fact that she reached out to me instead of going with someone for the sake of ease meant so much to me.  Then I found out that she, too was an xray tech – what are the odds!

I finally got a chance to talk more with Jonathan and meet his son, Carter when we all met for drinks at the new Hotel Zaza in Memorial City.  The fact that he cared to share his opinions and what he wanted on the wedding day was very refreshing.  He was engaged in the planning from the beginning and the most important thing to him was to make Lauren happy.

Lauren was sitting with ease and taking the whole day in when I arrived on that very warm June afternoon.  No nerves, just ready to marry her love.  In front of his guys, Jonathan was all laughs, but in one little moment before the ceremony, he was peeking out of the curtain at the guests who were arriving and just had this soft smile that I caught.  They danced the night away, with Carter getting DOWN with his moves near the end and then finally, as the night ended, they flew off in their Audi R8, ready for the honeymoon ahead. <3

Photo booth inside a camper is such a cute idea

I met Loriann and her daughter Sarah about six years ago when I had her sister over to talk about pictures.  I didn’t know it at the time, but I would become very close with these two sisters and their awesome, fun-loving and rowdy Sicilian family.  I didn’t know that the little girl with Loriann that was coloring in green marker on my sofa would grow up right before my eyes.  It’s the joy of what I do that brings so many amazing people into my life.

A few years ago, Loriann met Ramiro.  They went out on a first date to IHOP, as little Sarah recalls, and things took their course.  Ramiro has fit in well with the family.  He’s personable, laid back and a gentleman.  Needless to say, he’s been groomed into a die hard Cowboys fan (if he wasn’t one already) and enjoy’s biking with Loriann in the city.

On their wedding day, Loriann & Ramiro each had their children stand up with them.  Sarah was grinning at Ramiro’s son, Iovanny from across the way as she watched her Mom (and her best friend) say her vows.   After pictures, they danced and visited with their families.  They also surprised guests with a special treat, ice cream from Hey Mikey’s in Galveston.  Can we just talk about how legit their ice cream is??  OMG – so good.

MMMMWUAH, you two!!
