You guys…don’t let these adorable smiles fool you…these two are tigers!  I had SO much fun shooting their engagement session at Rice University.  I met with Elizabeth and we talked for a bit about various things, including family, her fiancé Casey and the vision for their wedding. She was sweet and had a bright smile and I knew I instantly liked her.

On the day we met for pictures, it was an unseasonably warm October day.  Maybe that’s what got them warmed up quickly 😉  We laughed about a nearby photographer making noises and faces for a small toddler’s session taking place and I started mimicking the same antics for the two of them.  I’ll have to try that again, because it worked!  We were all rolling.  They are also a lot more feisty than I originally thought and immediately felt more at home with them. 😀

They will be getting married in April and I just can’t wait to see all the shenanigans that take place at their wedding!

You guys, I have THE BEST couples.  For real.  They are brilliant.  I met Nicole during my first year at The Bridal Extravaganza in Houston.  She’s beautiful, bubbly and full of personality.  She always said she wanted me to be her wedding photographer when the time came, but you know how it goes sometimes…well–she got engaged and she HIRED ME!

I was equally smitten by her handsome fiance (at the time), and I LOVED how interactive he was with Nicole during their engagement pictures…especially when it came to hugging and cuddling her 😉  I knew the wedding day would give some gorgeous romantic photos and here they are, in all their glory.

Both the bride and groom have family and strong ties to New York, so it was fun to see all of their families dancing, laughing and celebrating this beautiful and amazing couple.

I hold you close to my heart.  Much love and happiness.

Summer weddings in Houston are usually pretty brutal temperature wise, but I don’t remember that being the case on Kristin & Daniel’s wedding day this September.  It was a calm and quiet day, no crowded bridal suite, just a relaxed vibe all around.

This was a small wedding with close knit family and friends.  The reception was candlelit with warm tones, AMAZING food, full glasses and young men wooing the seasoned ladies on to the dance floor.  It was a gorgeous night to be a part of.  It was also my cousin’s wedding, so that makes it a little extra special for me because her family is my family.

I’m so happy for the both of you and wish you many gourmet home cooked dinners, nights of laugher and love ahead.

Meeting Heather & Colin just by luck, we got together on a Saturday afternoon during a crazy rainstorm.  I avoid saying torrential downpour because we just experienced one of the worst storms in history, here in Houston with Hurricane Harvey.

Right off the bat, the newly engaged couple was friendly, funny and opened themselves up to tell their story to me.  Colin let me know that ‘he doesn’t take good pictures’.  I said, “You are handsome and you will do great!”  He says…”Oh, I know I’m a great looking guy–I just have that whole Chandler thing going when the camera is on me”.  I about died laughing.  Grinning ear to ear now, just writing about it.  But wait…THERE’S MORE!  He also fences!  You know…the sport with the mesh masks and skinny sword thingys?  Interesting, right??    Heather is not your average woman.  She won me over immediately with that red hair, but I soon came to know that she sings in a rock band and enjoys welding and working with wood.  She even made the wooden piece for the ceremony.  And to top it all off, she is a first generation Scot.  She grew up spending her summers roaming the Scottish Highlands and swimming in Loch Ness (or you get the idea)  She’s got that whole ‘Brave’ thing going on 😉   #coolchic

Photographing their wedding was very special to me.  They had planned to get married next year sometime, but life is what happens when you’re busy making plans.  They decided on a much more intimate setting and married in front of 15 of their family members right in their own living room.  They chose to have a small and sentimental ceremony but there was BIG love in that room.  The story of who they are as individuals, how they met, their love story and how he proposed in the old stomping grounds of where Heather used to play as a girl in Scotland were all told.  It was an honor to be a part of their story.

Afterward, they all toasted with champagne and once we took their wedding portraits, they headed to Benjy’s for dinner and drinks.  I’m so grateful to have met these two super awesome people.  I can’t wait to see what life brings for them.
